Finished the Trees & House's Top

It's hanging from the pantry, so it's hanging WONKY......
It is sewed straight, I promise.

I love this.........I'm thinking free motion quilting on this one.  Wish I could do small bubbles all over.  That would be pretty.

Lots of cutting & piecing

Today's work, and yesterday's and the 5 days before that.
I got the kit while on vacation 4 years ago.  Yep, I thought it was about time I tackled it.
 Beautiful kit, right?
Now, look at all those pieces I cut.  I think it literally took forever.
Normally, I'd rush through something like this to get it done.
Nope, I'm taking my time on this one.  It's purdy.
I have all of it pieced, except one house and then I'll be ready to put it in rows and add sashing.
I thought I'd send this one out to be quilted.  Nahhh, I can meander (free motion quilting) with the best of them. So, I'll save the money and do it myself.

Hopefully, today or tomorrow I'll have it assembled and can show you the top.

I sew while E and the hubs are gaming! ;)

Happy Thanksgiving

It's been a great day here. We picked up E yesterday and he'll be home till Saturday.
Hopefully, after the first of the year, he'll be home for GOOD.

So, I made the decision to get a dot.com and moved my entire blog over to Wordpress.  2 days worth of work, only to find nothing there.  I don't find any of my work.
Cancelling the dot.com tomorrow if it ain't there and sticking with free blogger.
Oh well..................

Hope you all are happily stuffed!

Meet Abi (Abbagail)

Abi (Abbagail on her paper's) is a 7 yr old Shih Tzu
Previous owners needed to simplify their life.  They had 5 shih tzu's, 11 horses and 2 outside dogs (that I saw).  And she's going through a divorce.

Abi had a litter of pups in April and is still underweight from that.
I'm trying to fatten her up a bit.

The day we brought her home, she was scared to death.
She didn't eat for about a week and did her potty business all over the house.
I was so frustrated as I knew she was house trained.  I knew she was scared, but didn't anticipate how scared she would have been.  Then I thought, "what if I lived somewhere for 7 years with my siblings and was kidnapped and take some place strange in the hills"?  I do understand and try to keep my cool when I find a new place she's peed.  She's getting better, we just went two days with no inside accidents....then this morning I noticed she peed in our bedroom during the early morning.  Bless her........
She don't like a leash.  She was used to her previous owner just opening the door and she'd go out freely and do her business.  Well.........the day we brought her home, we tried letting her go out freely and she ran 2 miles.  Seriously, we almost gave up looking for her and then found her hiding in the corner of a horse pasture.  Two days later she came out of her harness and ran again.  I drove up and down the road looking for her and never found her.  I gave up, I was so aggravated with this dog at this point.  About 30 mins later I looked outside to find her waltzing back into the yard.  She came back!  Now her collar is much tighter and she can't come out of it.  She's starting to eat more and settling in good with us.

We took her to meet E last weekend.  He loves her!
She loves wearing clothes.  She's very small 9 lbs, so the clothes help keep her warm.  We like a cool house.  She will also bury herself in covers.

Abi is pleased to meet you all!

One more thing.....the picture below is how the hubs wants to grow her hair, I told him he has to keep it up.
I would settle for her hair to be like the pic below.

WOW

First, I'm sorry!
It's been so long since I last posted.
I can't decide if I'm loosing interest in my blog, or I've just been too busy.

Things have been super crazy here lately.
You all know the problems with my E or you know the gist of them, just not the details and I normally won't share that kind of info via a blog.
He's making great progress.  So......after 6 years of seeing every Dr in our area, we finally have a diagnosis.
We finally know what's going on and we know what we have to work with here.
Bottom line..........THERE'S HOPE, and he'll be just fine.
He'll face struggles and obstacles in his life, and he may face more than the average person, but I know in time, he'll be able to face anything.

Our traveling has slowed down a bit this week.
For the past two months, we've been going an hour one way for Dr's appt's twice a week some weeks.
It was so tiring.

So, there you have it and hopefully I still have some readers out there.

Mod Podge a Food Container-Tutorial

Start with a empty, clean container.  Ones with lids are a plus
 You'll need...
► empty container
► fabric of choice
► Mod Podge
► paint brush to smooth out Mod Podge
I started spreading the Mod Podge on the back, so the seam would not be seen.
Do small sections at a time.  That helps to keep the fabric smooth.  Continue until you've went all the way around container.
My container was almost 6" high, so I measure the fabric at 6", so there wasn't much waste.
Trim the little you have hanging over the bottom.
waaaaa-laaaa a completed fabric covered food container with tons of space inside.

Selvage Edge Blocks 2

I've completed 5 more selvage edge blocks today.
selvage edge's trimmed, and ironed.....ready to sew
 5 5x5" blocks completed today
joined with the first 6 blocks I did about a month ago
I love the look of this......
i'm wondering if I'll have to mix in some strip blocks for it to be big enough?
I bet I have about 5 more blocks worth of selvage's.
Then it's saving again.......

You thought I was done with buttons & Update

I wanted to start this post talking about the expense of Resin.
The bottles you see below was $29.99....yeah, kinda pricey.
I used a little more hardener a time or two to see if it would cure better.
That's the reason equal amounts aren't gone.
Now, here is the amount of buttons I've made.  I'd say it was worth the $29.99
I wasn't sure at first, but now I'm convinced.
Even with the few batches that didn't cure.
I can still use them.
Oh, how I loved these when I was making them.
It's pink & silver glitter buttons.
Weeeellllll........they didn't cure.
They are super soft and rubbery.
So.....here they are about to be used in my smash book, and the below picture as well.

oh la la, bright orange buttons and some clear small buttons that didn't cure either.  uggghhhh
white buttons on the left, and on the right are speckled blue buttons, the blue is really pretty.
bright yellow buttons, these are just yummy.
Green/Blue/Purple Seed Beads Buttons

I'm still producing buttons over here on the black market.
oh yeah, and I've got some for sale in my Etsy store.
I think I'll be at it a while.
I'm also quilting a queen sized quilt.
And I'm working on some orders.

As if that all isn't enough.
We moved E this past week to his new place for the next year.
We have extreme high hopes for this place.  This is the facility we tried to
get him into back in December.
They got an opening back in April, and it took this long to get him in.
Lots of phone calls and emails were exchanged on a daily basis.
He called tonight and has requested some Lego's.
I'm going to see him tomorrow, so a stop in a Wal-Mart might be in order.
There's not much they CAN HAVE in this place, so Lego's it is.

SMASH/Journal Book

Do you have a Smash book?
Do you know what a Smash book is?  I didn't, until a few days ago.

You'll have to click on these to see them better.
This explains a Smash book.
And yes, they even have their own line of products.
But, I prefer to make my own.
 Some examples........of homemade books.

This website is great, she has tons of journal pages to print and add to your book.
Gives you lots of ideas.
something else to add to your book...........
 and again.........
 little sayings I like.....
and more........
I want to make some folders like this for my book

and here's a picture of my book......I'll show you the insides later.....
I used a Mary Engelbreit Book I got at Michael's for $1.00
I'll show you the inside's and my idea's another day.
I'll let you soak up the idea of a SMASH book.
