How's this for hanging a quilt?

So, I've been looking for some different ways to hang my small quilts.  I always seem to use the same type of hanger and was getting quiet bored with myself and my hangers.  SOOOOOOOOO, I found these cute hearts on Ebay, they were calling my name.  Really.......they were.  Their very heavy duty, very thick and can hold the weight of a small quilt.  If you click on the picture you'll be able to see the center of the hearts will spread apart just a bit to slip the tabs into.  Let me know what you all think.  I like it.

Even "newer" best friend.

I blogged about this earlier (Dec 08).  It's a new tool, well new to me.  It's called a Hera Marker made by Clover.  I had been using something different but worked in the same way.  This Hera Marker is for marking lines in your fabric to quilt against.  You'll have to click on the picture to really see the lines it makes.  I just love this tool.  I've had this one for awhile, but just today needed to actually use it for it's purpose.

Check out the fabric I'm working with right now.  This is a fat quarter, and I didn't even realize I had anything with this type of design on it.  One of my husband's best friends loves the asian girls.  I'm going to just quilt this in a diamond pattern then put binding on that burgandy color you see on the fabric.  I think he'll enjoy it.  He can hang it, or throw it over the back of a chair, or use it as a table topper.  It will be interesting to see what he does with it.  I'll get back to you all and let you know.

FYI:  My local Joann's store does not carry this is the store.  I ordered it online.  ;)

Fruity Quilt

Here we have........Fruity Quilt.  I was in the middle of making a Hexagon quilt using fruit/veggies fat quarters.  I came across this fat quarter and could not bear to cut it.  It just caught my eye and I loved it.  So, one of the other fat quarters was the frame, it's pears.  Then I had another fat quarter for the corners, also pears.  I also used this for the binding.  This was so fun.  I started it Saturday and finished just a bit ago.  I'll hang this in my kitchen.

TJ's High School Letters

My husband has been asking me to make something using his high school letter's.  This is what I came up with.  Simple, not to flashy.  I didn't want the background fabric to take away from the letters.  And had to find a color that would match all 3 letters.  You can't really tell, but the middle letter is trimmed in dark purple.  I thought it came out pretty good.  Now to hang it...........

Star Explosion Hanging

**UPDATE**  I finally got the backing and binding on this cutie.  I'm not sure what took so long, I think I was afraid of the binding.  This was the start of "making my own binding".  I thought I did very well, for making it myself and sewing it on the front and tacking it on the back.  What??  You want to see the back??  NO WAY...........it's my first tacking job and no way.  I'll be sure to hang this one, so no one can see the back.  lol  Click on the picture and you'll be able to see better my "binding" job.

"I'm seeing stars".  How lovely this turned out.  Thanks so much to Brown Dirt Cottage and her star tutorial.  This was so fun to make.  I already had the 2 center stars.  Then after her tutorial, I made the top 3 and the bottom 3.  I added bunches of extra stitching, (I call it quilting).

I don't have a back on it yet, or binding.  I'll have it all finished by tomorrow.  I just could not wait to get it posted and to thank Belinda.  I sent her an email personally.  Gosh, I love you quilting "bloggers".

EL (East Lincoln) Wall Hanging

Another UFO finished...........WOOHOO!!  I've had this quilt top done for about a year.  I couldn't find anything I really liked for the back of the quilt.  Finally during Christmas break I found a felt backing in the lightest green shade of this quilt.

I made this from fat quarters my MIL picked up for me at Joann's.  Last week when I was there, I got the orange and green binding.
The green looks much better in person than it does in this pic.  The color looks way off in this picture.  It looks great.

One thing I enjoy about quilting is naming the quilt.  This one was a no brainer.  My high school colors were orange and green.  Thus "EL (East Lincoln)".

School Days

I could not wait to try out my "quilt marker" (my new best friend I blogged about the other day).  This school days fabric was a remnant  piece I picked up the other day.  I thought this would be perfect to "crease" up for a quilting pattern.
I used it against a ruler and basically used it like it was a pen or pencil.  Above and below you can see the new tool DOES WORK!!  WOOHOO.  I love this tool.

Above and below, finished small wall hanging.

Behind Already?

I'm starting to feel like I'm already behind for 2009 on something being completed.  I just have to keep reminding myself  "self, you can blog without having a project finished to blog about".

I am super excited about the "Calendar Quilt Challenge".  To the right of this blog, I have a link to Rachel's page about it and all the rules.  Please sign up for this....if she gets 25 peeps to sign up, she create a blog just for this.  How cool.  I'll do as she will, and post pics as I go along on this year journey.

Alright, all is quite here and I think I'll take advantage of it and catch a movie.
