Want some fabric?

Ok..........before you enter this
go here and see the fabric
i'm way to lazy to re post the 8 pictures
below each picture will briefly describe these fabrics
THEY ARE NOT COTTON, well maybe to some extent
but, not your normal "sewy" fabrics (yes, sewy is a word to me)
i won't be offended if you are not interested, i just have way to much of it and several people are interested in me having a giveaway
you'll get a medium flat rate USPS box full
i've filled one up to see how much it is
it's more than 2 yards of each fabric
i don't have an accurate way of measuring this
i put the roll on my bed (king, and high off the ground)
pull the fabric down to the floor and cut it even with the top of the bed
we're guessing it's almost 2 yards

i will go back to the post where i first blogged these fabrics and count entries from there
those people are already ahead of the game 4-5 points
i love my regular follows, i love to be followed

post a comment for 1 entry
let me know you follow me for 2 entries, or follow me if you don't already
blog me for 3 entries, if you want....no pressure at all
"like" me on Facebook for 4 entries, you can find a link over there on the right side bar
make a separate comment for each entry

i'll draw a winner on august 1 when the countdown to my BIG birthday will begin....uggghhh

Say hello to Fred and Happy Birthday to E

isn't he cute (even if you think he isn't, say he is)
we found him in the back yard
we snatched him up after we knew for sure he wasn't a baby snapping turtle
from what we can tell and our quick research, he's a box turtle
perfect for a pet
his name is fred
yes, we name our turtles
the aquatic turtles are, dale, rusty, michael and bobby (yes, we hate nascar, lol)
in that first picture, he's actually pushing that pot around with his head
how about that, not only is he cute, he's strong
what else could you ask for in a turtle?

here he is in my planter box tj just built for me
we had to keep him somewhere till we decided if he was coming inside or not
we've emailed the NC Turtle Association or whatever it's called to see exactly what he is
should he be anything other than a box turtle, he's gone, bye, FREE TURTLE, kinda like FREE WILLY
ok, maybe not.........anywho.....
i'll be the first to admit, i know nothing about dry land turtles
he does hiss, but so do our aquatic turtles...we'll see

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO E
sometimes...9 going on 2
and
sometimes 9 going on 16
just depends on the day

he is sleeping much better, we visited the Dr. on friday ;)
that means mom is sleeping better ;)

Just Ramblin' Giveaway

Nola @ Just Ramblin' is giving away 9 charm packs
Yep, I said 9
These are from her 1980's collection of fabrics.
She was sure no one would be interested in 1980's fabric.
She asked last week or so if anyone would be interested and had a big response
Check out her label, so "charming".
I really hate to even share this giveaway, but for another chance to win, I'll share the good info with my good blogging buddies.

process pledge

you can see the new button over on the right side bar
click on it and read all about the "process pledge"
basically, it means...you will blog some about the process of a quilt
more of the "how you do it" quilting

so, above is the HST i showed back a week or so ago that i cut on my awesome GO machine
i don't even know if i have the same amount of each color
i should, and i double and double the amount of white HST
i've started tonight chain stitching these together
this would be one of the first things in the quilt making process

I found some fabric.....

........in the freezer
yes, I do remember how it got there
i just refuse to tell you

where is the funniest/weirdest/oddest place you've found fabric?

I'm "rolling" in fabric.

my aunt has access to these rolls of fabric
she got me some several years back and i was super excited to hear that she had more
one time, she was able to get me boxes of their sample books
she asked about them again and it seems as if they trash them
have they no heart?
trashing fabric?
this is so pretty, and just a tad thicker than cotton
horrible picture, this is yellow and much thicker than cotton, not sure what i'll do with this one
(you'll see the yellow roll and the color of this on down in other pictures)
this is very pretty and as thin as cotton
this one is my favorite.......i can picture a bag made from this
however, i'll give my friend the fabric and let her make the bag for me
she's mucho better at bag making
this is white and just a bit thicker than cotton
very pretty and thin as cotton
the greens don't show well in this picture, but i like this one too

very pretty and different as well........

any ideas for all this fabric
would any of you be interested in any of this.....
i have yards and yards and the rolls are almost as tall as me
i could have a giveaway and give you about a yard of each or something
any ideas?

Love it...

pretend you can't see through that mesh background at the stuff behind it. lol

WOOHOO, finally finished a bag.  I wasn't going to stop until I made one, and one I like.

thanks so much to Betsy for this pattern.

for the most part, i followed the pattern, i switched up a few things

like i used twine for the drawstring

this fabric was a charm pack from Connecting Threads

even the handle is patched from the charms

i put three pockets on the inside.

i like this......i'm switching my things over right now

A blog to share...

i "happened" upon this blog and her store yesterday
those purse patters are gorgeous
she has some fabric that has just came out
i love it
go on over and check her out
you won't be disappointed

Now I know.....

............why I don't have patterns for bags

*uggghhh, pulling hair out, throwing scissors, stitcking pins in my fingers*

so, not worth it, i'll gladly spend the money to get a good bag

so, in the process of sewing on the handle, i broke a needle...wth?  and of course it fell into my machine
guess i'll go fishing for that dang thang
what the pocket book will look like, somewhat
ewwww, i sooo don't like it
the handle i can't get on right, that is going to make this a UFO, if only for a few hours,
i must walk away from it for a bit
the handle i got on with no problem

must take a sewing time out

looking for.........

.....a bag/purse/tote/handbag patten

i've searched the internet for free pattern's and just can't find anything i like

i actually have a bag pattern i bought while on vacation, however; i'm just not feeling it right now

i'm looking for....slouchy, handles long enough to fit over my fat arm,
(no, i'm not picky)

do any of you have a favorite bag pattern?

this is for me, my personal use, not to be mass produced or sold

Show your thread stash.

  • Sew Mama Sew wants to see your thread stash for a chance to win some thread.

  • How did you select colors for your personal thread collection? normally, i just pick out colors, nothing specific
  • Do you always match the color perfectly to your project? no, and usually quilt in white
  • Do you ever use contrasting thread? no, although maybe i have once

  • Do you use the same color in the bobbin as the upper thread?
  • yes, by the time i think about doing them different, it's to late
  • What if a fabric has big areas of very different colors?
  • i'll quilt in the color that shows up the most
  • Do you have any tips or suggestions about choosing thread?
  • different threads work better on different machines
  • Can you show us a picture(s) of your thread collection?
  • i added 3 pictures, i also have a small box of "cheap" thread that i can use on my old machine for my capri sun projects
  • Do you ever buy thread because you fall in love with the color (without a particular project in mind)? oh yes, most certainly

  • Do you “invest” in thread?
  • only in embroidery thread, which you see just above
  • What types of thread do you have? (elastic, quilting, all-purpose, wool, etc.)
  • all purpose, quilting and the one i use the most 100% egyptian cotton satin, sounds expensive, but so not.
(i have no idea why it spaced my lines so far apart, maybe because i copied and pasted from her site, sorry)

Remember when I got this...........

1963 Singer Spartan
I got this in 2008, I love the way it sews, but hate using it from this "table".
The table was so wobbly and I couldn't get comfortable sitting here sewing.
Sooooooo....here's what we did.
I love it!
I see you eyeing those go dies in the background.
3 machines now, wonder how many more that poor table can hold?

Some kitchen helpers...

you'll recognize this first helper.
my mom has always had one of these..
i need one as well, however mine will NOT be pink
i thought this fabric was cute, with peanuts, hot dogs and other food on it
it's a plastic grocery bag holder
this you might not recognize
it's a microwave potato baker
you lift the fold over and place your potato inside
there are instructions on the back, see next picture
i made one with fabric and then this one with a new dishtowel
i think i like the dishtowel one better
it is also lined with fabric on the inside
i added some batting to the first one, that made it to thick and I didn't like that as well
whatcha think?

E is making great progress.....this morning he hobbled (yes, hobbled) into our room at 7am or earlier to show me he could "hobble" without his crutches.
I knew it wouldn't be long till he ditched those crutches.
I stressed to him to still becareful and not put any pressure on that heel just yet.

Finally time to play with the GO

.......pinwheels in the works.......

....things are finally a bit calmed down from weekend, just a bit though....

Friday, July 2, 2010

I've joined a team of bloggers that love their Accuquilt...

I've been meaning to join this group over @ SewCalGal's blog.

I won a GO cutter from Accuquilt on Facebook about a month ago.

I admit, I haven't even made anything with it. I have cut some fabric, but nothing is complete.

I committed to alterations on 100 lab coats for a uniform company. I finished those 100 and they asked if I would do 78 more. I so sick of seeing lab coats.

I did order some more dies for my GO, I ordered the tumbler and the 5". I'm exicted for those to arrive, then I know I'll be doing a project.
