Becky posted this on her Facebook wall, wishing her kids knew how to stitch.
I saved it, and have looked at it every day since she posted it.
I didn't have any cross stitch cloth, hoops or embroidery floss.
I headed to Michael's in Boone yesterday and got all I needed to make this.
Thanks to Jackie for getting me started on separating the floss strands.
I had a knotted mess.
Here's what I have so far.
I love the humor in this stitching..........
:) I haven't cross stitched in years....well, since I now own an embroidery sewing machine ;) I love your little blocks, you know you can make a quilt with that pattern too :) It's looking good!
ReplyDeleteI learned to cross stitch many moons ago and then fell into quilting. :-)
ReplyDeleteI just read all your post about Ca (yeah I'm behind on blog reading)...I'm from Fairfield (family all still there) You were in all my old stomping grounds!! My FIL was a machinest for Jelly Belly....we still reap the rewards. LOL Looks like your time spent was enjoyable! Did you have to mention IN and OUT!!! *sigh
I stitch a lot...and cross-stitching is something I always find myself going back too. It is soothing just counting to myself as I stitch! What a cute little design...it will be fabulous when you get it completed!

You're doing fantastic! Love the colors too. I wonder what you have up your sleeve next?! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job Tonya! I used to cross stitch alot until I found embroidery. I like to embroider because I don't have to count all those little Xs.
ReplyDeleteGlad to be of inspiration! Not surprised at all that you can do this - you are one smart Gal. Now if we could find a pattern of Vanilla Ice to go along side the quote ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Tonya! I used to love counted cross-stitch and did a lot of it UNTIL either they made the holes in the fabric too tiny or my eyes got too old!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteLove it!! I used to cross stitch too!! But I had a hard time counting!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteWay to go, Tonya! Cross stitch can be so relaxing - once you get your floss untangled, that is! I love to cross stitch, and I'm working on a pretty little bluebird right now. I'll post it when it's done. Can't wait to see yours completed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely cross stitch piece. I love to cross stitch and this is a very pretty one. Looking forward to all the steps in progress.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE cross stitching. I really find it so relaxing and I think you are off to a great start!
ReplyDeleteHa ha... I read Pat's comment, and I totally agree. The holes got smaller or my eyes got worse.
ReplyDeleteI did a lot of that many years ago. I did machine embroidery today. Did you know they have cross stitch patterns that you can do on your embroidery machine?
