What's my problem you ask? I'm missing him like crazy. I watched the finale of the Bachelorette and started crying with that and two hours later I'm still crying. You would think he was gone for a week or longer, but he's not, he'll be home in a couple hours and I'm a mess. What's wrong with me? To keep myself from thinking, "I've gone completely insane" I'll chalk it up to being so in love with him and just used to him being around. And there's just something completely wrong with going to bed alone. ugggghhhh, sniff, wipe tears, sniff..........
*sorry about the pic, I had no idea it would not enlarge, i stole it from my facebook. here's a link so you can see it better if you wish* http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1484668&l=e5ca798e2b&id=786444760
I worked nights for 6 years- my husband missed going to bed, evenings without me, but he got used to it, and you will too. Promise. It's good to be in love that much!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen my DH use to do nights i missed him, it just knowing that they are not there, you will get use to it you won't like it but will get use to it & who knows you may do more sewing while he working
ReplyDeleteHugs Janice
it is hard when the two of you are working opposite shifts. Hope it all works out!

Awwww too sweet! Mine used to go help his brother out a lot in Raleigh. I got used to being alone all week, not that I didn't miss him! We would talk twice every night. But I enjoyed my girly time!! And I didn't have to cook a big meal!!
ReplyDeleteDidn't like it much when his brother came here to help out hubby!! LOL
The times apart are TOUGH. But I will let you in on a secret: It makes the times together sweeter.
ReplyDeleteFor years my husband worked a lot and I got used to being with the kids by myself and now he is here allll time time and I am so wishing he would go somewhere, anywhere just somewhere!! It will get better.
ReplyDeleteYou got some insightful comments already. My husband was in Vietnam for a year once.....so I know how it is to miss them. But this was a wise choice for when you get a new job and you won't need a sitter....think of it as doing it for E...and then it might be easier. (Is it second shift so he is home for part of the night??) Now...as for the finale of The Bachelorette.....I liked Jillian a lot better at the START of the show than I find myself liking her now. I think she is more frivolous than she appeared when she was on last season (and got to the Final 3 with Jason). OH, well........just my 2 cents'worth on it.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I worked different shifts for 20 years while we were raising children. We knew it was the right thing because WE were raising our children. It's tough at first, but you will find that you will make the most of the days off. Hand in there, it will get better.
ReplyDeleteHang in there, it sure is tough to work opposite like that but it will work out in the end! It did for us and now we are retired together!!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a wonderful thing that you love him that much! After all my years married, I still get that funny feeling in my gut when my husband gets out of the van and walks to the house every day! It's a good thing! I have known women who dread seeing their husband come home....aren't you glad we're not in that group?
ReplyDeleteOh it will get better once you get in a routine. My DH traveled a lot so understand the alone feeling. I have worked the night/over night shifts and takes some getting used to with sleep patterns and doing stuff!!
ReplyDeleteMake the most of the weekends gal!!!!
Hugs!!
That first night (week) is the worst. My DH and I lived apart for 17 years, together weekends. We, however, "dated" on weekends and then each could do his/her own thing during the week. Now, for the last three years, we have been back together and it seems like we were never apart. Good marriages can deal with almost anything.
ReplyDeleteSometimes ya just gotta do what ya gotta do. My Husband worked second shift while I worked first for years. I was difficult at first, seemed like we two ships passing in the night but our time together was sweet and we got used to the routine. Now we both work days and still enjoy our time together, but also enjoy our own time. Thigs will get better.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand. It is a complete change in routine and you are used to him being there. I remember one year my husband was sent by his employer to all these locations in the U.S. for 1-3 days each time. But there were many many in a row. I was miserable and couldn't even funtion.
