Scrap Bin full?

Clean it out and give it away. That's just what I did. I have a dear friend that makes quilts for children, I'm not exactly sure of the entire story, but I asked her one day if she could use scraps. She said "yes". So, I finally got around to cleaning out my scrap bin and am sending her a pretty nice stack of scraps. I even took time to fold them (best I could of course). I hope she can use them all. Please forgive me on these pictures, I used my cell phone as my "good" camera's batteries were dead.
I should have took a before picture, oops. Here's after I cleaned it out. I did keep strips, as I have a plan to make a strip quilt some day. I figured she could use bigger pieces anyway.
Here's the stack for my dear friend. I hope you can use them all "scrappy".

  1. What a nice thing you did. And it probably feels good to be clean and organized.
I love my scraps and use them all the time. I sometimes make catnip toys or small scrappy quilts or whatever. I bought another cool thing at a garage sale and will post it later on my blog. Just saw the fever status...poor kid. My son just had about 2 weeks of the flu and fevers and it was just awful.

  2. Very nice to donate them. I often try to get our little quilting group gals to go through MY scraps and take as much as they want.....time to do that again soon, I think. Hope E is feeling better this a.m. I've been sneezing a lot...but I think it's allergies. I'm not prone to them, but this year it's worse for everyone, it seems.

  4. I've only been saving scraps for about a month. Before that, they just went in the trash. I don't know yet what I'll do with them, but we'll see.

  7. Good way to keep them under control...and they get used not wasted;-)
I give to two gals, one does all hand piecing
and quilting in the winter. They are too busy with their market farm any other time.
Sure hope Lil E is not getting what you have.
    Wishing you both well soon!

  8. I'm sure your friend will love having all those extra scraps to quilt with for those children. Is it the Linus Project that she makes them for?

  14. Great thing to do! I often think about it. I have a huge laundry pop up basket that is overflowing and I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to using them.

  15. Your scraps will build up again fast. I used to give tiny pieces to a charity group that did string piecing. They would piece the tiny pieces into strings and then go from there.
