A Very Productive 4th

Sparklers were our only "fireworks". Fireworks are illegal in NC.
What better way to spend the 4th of July than breaking beans to get ready for canning. (never mind that tattooed foot, hehe)
This is where the beans went to spend their 4th.
This is where the cucumbers will reside, well then into the fridge.
And what's the 4th without a friendly game of poker with red, white and blue (and green and black) chips.

We also had a cook out.

That's how we spent our 4th, how about you?

  1. We have been at the beach with our son, daughter and her new bf. Our son's wife and and kids are with her family. We spent yesterday on the beach. It was a beautiful day. Had steaks on the grill last night and fireworks!!

  2. Our fireworks are on the 3rd. So we watched those on Friday. Then yesterday we spent the morning at the Cruise-In (old car show) with a friend and his baby girl (mommy had to work). Then came home and played video games while the kids napped. Went back to the Cruise-In for our chance to win a 1937 Ford Coupe (didn't win, I have the worst luck ever!), then just played in the park near by till all the cars were gone (the Cruise-In parade was right after the drawing for the car). Went home, at dinner and watched season 2 of 30 Rock. A pretty good day, I think!

  3. Your pickles actually made my mouth water....yummy!
We spent the day cooking, eating, visiting and watching fireworks...very American I think and that gave me such a sense of comfort, to know that millions of other Americans were doing exactly the same thing. Is this a great country or what?!

  6. Those pickles look so yummie. We celebrate our Canada Day on the 1st. We didn't do much this year, however this year I think it meant more to me than ever that we live in a free country. Both of us are so priviledged to have those freedoms. Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday.

  7. Most of my 4th was spent at the nursing home. My mom has another UTI or never got over the last one. Anyway, we did manage to go to a nearby park and watch fireworks.

  8. We had a block party at the beach where I am staying for a couple of days. Live band played stuff by the Eagles, Buffett, etc. Then Fireworks over the ocean. I loved the smiley face fireworks.
